Turn sustainability requests into a clear work plan.

A customer questionnaire, carbon data request and sustainability report are different tasks. Vosurein helps businesses clarify the purpose, boundary and evidence needed before collecting information.

Start with the request and its intended use

Identify who is requesting the information, which sites or activities it covers, the reporting period and the deadline. This prevents a broad ESG project from drifting away from the immediate business need.

Organizational greenhouse gas inventories, product carbon footprints, emissions reduction and independent verification have different scopes. They should not be treated as interchangeable deliverables.

Build information that can be traced

Assign information owners and document sources, assumptions and gaps. Electricity, fuel, purchasing and operational records may need reconciliation before they can support an assessment.

Methods and reporting requirements must be selected for the actual request. An advisory engagement does not itself constitute independent verification.

Address nature-related questions when they are relevant

Biodiversity work may require location information, dependencies on ecosystem services and potential impacts. TNFD LEAP, ENCORE and IBAT can inform different parts of an assessment; none replaces site-specific judgment.

The scope may include prioritising information gaps and determining whether ecological expertise or fieldwork is needed. Actual outputs are defined with the company.

Questions before you start

Should we prepare a sustainability report first?

Not necessarily. If the immediate need is a customer request for carbon information, first clarify that request and its evidence requirements. Reporting can then be scoped around the company's obligations and priorities.

Is a carbon inventory the same as verification?

No. An inventory quantifies emissions within a defined scope and method. Independent verification is a separate assessment; consulting does not guarantee its outcome.
