No. Data recovery is just one resource; it is also necessary to verify whether personnel, sites, suppliers, and service delivery can continue.
Is it necessary to purchase a backup data center first?
Not necessarily. First confirm which activities need to be restored and what resources are required, then compare alternative strategies. A backup data center is just one possible arrangement and cannot replace overall business analysis.
Should the recovery time be decided only by the IT department?
It should be jointly evaluated according to business needs and resource capabilities. The time a system can be recovered does not necessarily equal the time a service is restored; personnel, processes, and upstream and downstream dependencies must also be considered.
Must exercises shut down production systems?
Not necessarily. Choose tabletop discussions, notification exercises or practical tests according to objectives and risks. Any switch affecting live operations needs prior authorisation, a restoration plan and risk controls.
How often should the plan be updated?
In addition to scheduling regular reviews, changes in business, systems, suppliers, or personnel should also have their impact assessed. Specific frequency should be defined according to applicable requirements and enterprise conditions.
